This Cookie Policy explains how The Cook’s Guide uses browser storage and analytics technologies. Privacy-friendly Cloudflare site statistics do not use cookies and may be switched off at any time. Optional Google Analytics cookies are used only when you give permission.
How consent works
The website uses two separate forms of analytics. Privacy-friendly site statistics provided by Cloudflare are enabled unless you object. They do not use cookies or browser storage and are used only to produce aggregate information for improving the archive. Google Analytics is optional, uses analytics cookies and remains off unless you consent.
Silktide Consent Manager provides controls for both choices. It is hosted by The Cook’s Guide, so displaying it does not contact Silktide or another content-delivery network. Your choices are stored in local storage, which is similar to a cookie but is not automatically sent with web requests.

Cloudflare Web Analytics
Unless you object, Cloudflare Web Analytics uses a JavaScript beacon to provide aggregate statistics about visits, page views, popular page paths, referring sites, approximate countries, browsers, operating systems, device types and page performance. We use those statistics only to understand and improve the archive.
The Cloudflare beacon does not set or read cookies, local storage, session storage or other persistent browser storage. Cloudflare says that it does not fingerprint visitors or create persistent visitor identifiers. The network request necessarily reaches Cloudflare from your IP address, but Cloudflare says that it discards the address at the nearest data centre and does not store it in its core databases or logs. Search query strings are excluded.
Prior consent is not requested because this use is limited to aggregate statistics for improving the website. You can object free of charge at any time through Cookie preferences. For more information, read Cloudflare’s Web Analytics documentation and Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics
If you accept Analytics, Google Analytics measurement ID G-J1FEQGHG10 may receive a randomly generated cookie identifier, pages visited, session and interaction activity, approximate geographical area, and browser and device information. We use this information to understand general traffic patterns and improve the archive. Advertising features and Google signals are disabled.
Before information is sent to Google Analytics, this website removes query strings from the page address and referring address supplied to Analytics. This helps prevent terms entered into the archive’s search facility from appearing in Analytics reports.

Use the round cookie control at the bottom-left of any page, or the button below, to reopen Cookie preferences.
“Privacy-friendly site statistics” is on unless you object. Switching it off reloads the page without Cloudflare Web Analytics and prevents the beacon from loading on later page views.
“Google Analytics” is off unless you consent. If it was active and you withdraw consent, the site removes accessible Google Analytics cookies and reloads without Google Analytics.
You can also clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser. Clearing these records removes the saved choices, so the website will ask again on your next visit.
